Whether you’re a street racing enthusiast or just a devotee of fast, muscular, sexy rides, the Ford Mustang has all of your sporty whims and needs covered. From torquey, high-horsepower engines to multi-speed transmission architecture, this ride remains one of our Mac Haik Ford team’s all-time favorites. It all comes down to superior performance. Take a look.
Return of the Mach 1
Aptly named, the Mach 1 moniker dates back to Ford Mustang’s late 1960s days. Today, it denotes one of four muscular engines that power the entire Ford Mustang fleet. Aptly named, the Mach 1 delivers:
- 480 horsepower
- 420 lb.-ft. of torque
- 5.0 liters of displacement
- Tri-VCT V8 technology
Combined with a Performance Pack Level II, the Mach 1 creates 22 percent more downforce, the aerodynamic force that acts on a vehicle’s wheels. More downforce gives the wheels optimal traction and the vehicle more stability for tight maneuvering at top speeds.
Six- or 10-Speed Transmission
The above Mach 1 pairs with a six-speed manual transmission, whereas other trims have the option of a 10-speed automatic transmission. Manual lets you maximize specific gear shifts according to road conditions and your needs behind the wheel. The 10-speed automatic architecture is computer-controlled, offering textbook-perfect gear ratios and shifting for smooth, lag-free acceleration at all times.
